High-Pressure Jetting Safety
High-pressure sewer jetting safety guidance covering PPE, hose inspection, nozzles, work areas and operator training.
High-pressure water can cause serious injury. Equipment must be used only by trained operators following the machine manual, nozzle instructions, employer procedures and applicable regulations.
Before operation
- Inspect hoses, fittings, couplings, guards and controls.
- Confirm component pressure ratings and compatibility.
- Wear appropriate eye, face, hand, foot, hearing and protective clothing.
- Secure the work area and manage traffic or confined-space hazards.
- Never point a jetting nozzle or spray gun toward any person.
During and after use
Maintain control of the hose, use appropriate leaders and safety devices, avoid sharp bends and do not exceed rated limits. Depressurize the system fully before changing a nozzle, hose or fitting. This page is general information and does not replace formal training or manufacturer instructions.
